141 systems, three empires

Security
High-security space contains System-wide Pacification Arrays that prevent weapons activation at all times. Med-security space is patroled by SENTINEL (Secure Navigation and Intelligence Liaison) patrols that punish illegal aggression. However, low-security and null-security space is beyond the reach of the law.
Travel
Jump Drive enables near-instantaneous travel between systems. They can only be used at Jump Points — fractures in the fabric of space-time that allow for entry into the Slipstream Dimension.

Federation of Free Systems
The Federation is a dazzling beacon of free-market liberty and prosperity, though the shimmering boulevards on Liberty Prime mask severe systemic decay. While individual rights are fiercely protected by law, unchecked oligarchy has created a staggering wealth gap, leaving millions in impoverished under-hives while corporate dynasties purchase policy. With Senate seats effectively auctioned to the highest corporate bidders, everyday citizens increasingly question whether their democratic representatives serve the public good or merely the deep pockets of the ruling elite.

Solar Empire
The Empire maintains a fragile balance of power as a constitutional monarchy where a ancient, stable ruling dynasty serves as the sacred heart of the state. Behind the grand ceremonies and parliamentary debates, real authority resides with the Imperial Naval General Headquarters, where admirals dictate the distribution of resources and manpower. The Emperor reigns with public devotion and civil governance remains orderly, but every major political decision is quietly vetted by the admirals who control the war-machines purporting to safeguard the realm.

Interstellar Citizen's Republic
The Republic is a martial state forged in the crucible of perpetual conflict, where military discipline has entirely replaced civilian governance. Though its people endure strict rationing, grueling labor, and a total lack of political freedoms, a fierce, defiant pride unites the populace against perceived external threats. The Republic may be struggling on the edge of economic collapse, but the unwavering citizen-soldiers, enlightened by the Ministry of Truth, view their austerity not as oppression, but as the necessary price for survival in a hostile galaxy.

Secure Navigation and Intelligence Liaison
SENTINEL is the supranational compact that keeps high- and medium-security space navigable. Its fleets do not hold systems and do not sell seats; they answer illegal player aggression with interdiction and lethal force. The Liaison Council is staffed by the three empires, but a Sentinel hull on grid answers to the compact, not to any navy.
Outer Rim Alliance
The Outer Rim Alliance is a loose coalition of independent systems that have banded together to defend themselves from pirate raids.
