Terms of service
These terms govern use of Astera Online at asteraonline.com and play.asteraonline.com. Last updated 11 October 2026.
Astera Online is a free-to-play browser game operated at asteraonline.com and play.asteraonline.com. Playing as a guest, registering, or otherwise using the service means you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Who can play
You must be at least 16 years old. Do not create an account or play as a guest if you are under 16. You are responsible for the activity on your account, including a guest session in your browser.
Accounts
You may play as a guest or register with an email and password or Google sign-in. Keep your credentials to yourself. We may suspend or close an account that is shared, sold, stolen, or used to break these terms. Guest progress lives in the browser session; clearing site data can lose that session.
The game
Astera Online is a shared persistent universe. Ships, cargo, structures, market orders, bank and insurance positions, and other in-game items can be lost, destroyed, stolen, or made worthless through ordinary play, including PvP in low-security and null-security space. That is part of the game. We do not restore losses except as we choose in a specific case.
In-game credits and items have no real-world cash value. You do not own them outside the game. You may not buy, sell, or trade accounts, credits, or items for real money or anything of value outside the service.
Acceptable use
Do not cheat, exploit bugs, use bots or unauthorized automation, interfere with the servers, scrape the service in a way that harms it, or attempt to access another player’s account. Do not harass other players. Do not use chat, names, or other text for illegal content, scams, or hate. Report exploits to us instead of using them.
Forums and Discord are separate services. Their own terms apply there.
Our rights
We may change, pause, or end the service, wipe or reset world data, or change game rules at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe these terms were broken. We grant you a personal, revocable license to play; we keep all rights in the game, art, code, and world.
No warranty
The service is provided as is. We do not promise uninterrupted play, preserved progress, or any particular outcome. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost progress, lost items, lost profits, or indirect damages arising from use of the game.
Privacy
How we handle information is described in the privacy policy.
Changes
We will update this page when these terms change. The date at the top is the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
